About the KNHS

The Royal Dutch Equestrian Sports Federation (KNHS) is the sporting heart of equestrian sport in the Netherlands. With around 140,000 members, affiliated associations and riding schools, we are committed to a strong, inclusive and future -proof sport every day. KNHS board / Supervisory Board (RVT)

The KNHS currently has a board consisting of five board members. The board is being further developed into an RVT in 2026. The SB of the KNHS supervises the policy of the director-director and the general course of affairs within the association. The Supervisory Board is a sparring partner, supervisor and ambassador. The members of the Supervisory Board are appointed by the Council of Members and operate with a sharp eye for strategy, governance and social developments.

The role: KNHS board member, in the future member of the RVT with portfolio entrepreneurship

As a member with the entrepreneurship portfolio you are the administrative face of the KNHS. You represent the association in the social and sporting field and actively contribute to themes such as:

1. Advocacy for competitive sport and riding school
2. The social value of sport and exercise
3. Sustainable sports financing
4. Governance and cooperation within the sports sector
5. Qualitative sports infrastructure

You are a progressive, authoritative and visible leader who knows how to connect the sport with society, including business. 

Who are we looking for?

You are an inspiring figurehead with:

1. Administrative experience, supervisory qualities and a strategic view
2. Affinity with equestrian sport, preferably knowledge of and experience in riding school
3. A connecting style of collaboration and the ability to listen and give direction
4. Humor, perspective and undisputed behavior (VOG)
5. A modern vision of sports, governance and social impact

What do we offer?

A prominent role in Dutch equestrian sport, in which really impact can be made. The time spent is on average one day part per week. There is a meeting five times a year in Ermelo. The meetings of the members’ council are currently at least twice a year. Flexibility is important. The function is unpaid, expenses are reimbursed.

Procedure

The Council of Members appoints the new member on the recommendation of the board. The conversations will take place at the end of September/beginning of October.
