The Royal Dutch Equestrian Sports Federation (KNHS) is one of the largest and most sporting, the most successful sports associations in the Netherlands. The KNHS represents the interests of the affiliated sports providers and its members, so that they can practice equestrian sport as well as possible. The organization focuses not only on sports in a competition context, but also on recreational equestrian sport. The well -being of horses plays an important role within the KNHS policy, which fulfills an exemplary role in this. Due to the nature of equestrian sport, the KNHS maintains relationships with entrepreneurs and breeding in the horse sector. The KNHS is located at the National Equestrian Center in Ermelo currently employs 75 (FTE) employees and is a dynamic organization.

The challenge

Als Manager sports ben jij hét gezicht van het sportbeleid binnen de KNHS. Je ontwikkelt en implementeert een heldere visie op de paardensport (van Bixie en F-proef tot Olympisch niveau) en vertaalt deze naar concreet beleid. Je stuurt meerdere disciplines aan en bent verantwoordelijk voor de strategische, operationele en organisatorische aansturing van het sportdomein. Je ontwikkelt topsportprogramma’s gericht op het behouden en versterken van onze (internationale) toppositie, daarbij richt jij je op de lange en korte termijn en ben je verantwoordelijk voor de te realiseren doelstellingen voor topsport en talentontwikkeling. Vanuit de functie draag je actief bij aan voldoende aansluiting en afstemming tussen de wedstrijd- en topsport. Je zorgt voor een goede en constructieve relatie met diverse stakeholders, waaronder NOC*NSF, EEF en FEI en bent een échte verbinder. Je stelt de begroting op voor de sportprogramma’s en bent binnen het vastgestelde budget financieel verantwoordelijk. Je initieert en organiseert vernieuwing en innovatie. 

You represent the KNHS and represent the interests of Dutch equestrian sport. You maintain contact with media and actively contribute to the positive propagation of equestrian sport. You find horse welfare very important. You are responsible for further developing the “Renewal of Competition Sport” program. You translate the strategy into concrete, feasible objectives and you keep a grip on their implementation. You know how to translate figures, trends and developments into a nice sports offer, based on the needs of the horse athlete. This from a pragmatic enthusiastic control and with connecting qualities.

Optimizing and coordinating policy development and implementation results in further growth, modernization and strengthening of equestrian sport. You feel at home in an association organization and you easily maintain contacts with entrepreneurs, officials, associations, etc. With your vision, decisiveness and connecting capacity you give direction to the future of equestrian sport.

In de functie van Manager sports leg je verantwoording af aan de Algemeen Directeur en behartig je samen met de Algemeen Directeur, het bestuur en het gehele team van de KNHS de belangen van de paardensport en meer specifiek die van de bond tijdens vergaderingen, bijeenkomsten, wedstrijden, evenementen en paarden(top)sportactiviteiten.

Your responsibilities

1. (Further) developing and implementing a vision of equestrian sport.
2. (Further) developing top sports programs for preserving and strengthening the international top position.
3. Promoting connection between competitive sport and top sport.
4. Implementing and monitoring the Program Renovation Program.
5. Analyzing figures and trends to tailor sports to needs.

Your profile

1. HBO/Academic working and thinking level.
2. Knowledge of and passion for equestrian sport. Extensive experience in competitive sport, preferably in multiple disciplines and/or a completed Orun training.
3. A driven visionary.
4. An experienced manager and demonstrable experience as a MT member.
5. Powerful personality with inspiring and connecting capacity to people.
6. Able to further develop and realize the strategy.
7. HelicopterView, good numerical insight, strong commitment and sense of humor.
8. Very good communication skills and excellent command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing.
9. A great deal of flexibility for representation (also outside of regular working hours) at various events, meetings, activities and competitions.
10. Extensive experience with working in an administrative and political environment.

The KNHS offers

A great function in a dynamic organization. You work (hybrid) together with enthusiastic colleagues on the future of equestrian sport. An annual agreement, with the intention to eventually convert it into an agreement for an indefinite period. A gross monthly salary between € 6,302 and € 8,940 (based on 38 hours), depending on knowledge and experience. We grant 24 vacation days and age days. A laptop with homeworking accessories, a net telephone compensation and a mobility budget (gross). A good pension (50/50) and an additional health insurance allowance of € 300 gross per year, according to the Collective Labor Agreement for Sport. An individual choice budget (holiday pay & end -of -year bonus) with which you can choose between extra leave or salary and a sustainable employability budget. But above all a key role in a challenging and varied position, in which you can optimally use your talents, knowledge and experience.

Declaration of Behavior (VOG)

If you come to work with us, we will ask you for a Declaration of Behavior (VOG). When you enter the service at the KNHS, you will receive the request for digital requesting a VOG via Justis during the employment process. These costs are reimbursed by the KNHS.
